Florida Realtors®: Take Steps to Boost Your Curb Appeal

ORLANDO, Fla. – Considering selling your house? How does it look to a prospective buyer driving by?

Curb appeal is important as it’s the first thing someone sees during a home search. According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), 92% of real estate professionals advise improving curb appeal before sellers list their homes for sale, while 97% believe curb appeal is essential for attracting buyers.

Not only does beautiful curb appeal attract buyers, but it also can encourage them to offer more money for your home. On average, buyers will pay 7% more for a home with great curb appeal, according to the Top Agent Insights 2023 report from HomeLight.

The report noted that “agents recommended clients invest an average of about $3,467 in curb appeal prior to listing their home. In return, agents estimate that clients will yield around $11,718 in resale value for a 238% return on investment (ROI).”

Here are six simple steps you can take to boost your home’s curb appeal:

  • Deep clean the exterior
  • Tidy up the lawn
  • Upgrade landscaping in simple ways, like adding precast concrete pavers for a walkway
  • Highlight a nice entrance with fresh paint on the door, plants or flowers
  • Refresh your garage door with a new coat of paint or new hardware
  • Check your exterior lighting to make sure it works and complements your home
  • Think seasonal décor – it’s festive and adds a nice homey touch
